An enchanting mid-blue Celestite Heart from Madagascar.

Crystal Size approx 63mm x 70mm.

Origin:  Mahajanga province of Madagascar

Crystal Details: Also known as Celestine. Celestite is composed of strontium sulphate and is formed at very high temperatures in hydrothermal veins and also in sedimentary and igneous rocks. The best Celestite specimens are found in cavities in Sandstone or Limestone (often as geodes) and are in high demand by collectors.  It can also be found as tabular or granular crystals or in fibrous veins of sedimentary rock.  It is heat and light sensitive and may fade with prolonged exposure to full sun and bright light.

Chemical Composition: Strontium Sulphate -Sr(SO4)

Hardness:  On Mohs scale of mineral hardness - grade 3-5.5 (1 being softest, 10 being hardest)

Colour:  Most often light sky blue to steel-blue, but also found colourless. The hue of blue Celestite is attributed to the presence of minute traces of gold and, in some cases, to a naturally occurring irradiation. Celestite is transparent to translucent with a vitreous lustre.

Uses: Crystals are a gift of nature that have been cherished and appreciated by humankind for for millennia. There are countless ways we can incorporate crystals into our daily lives. Placed around the home, worn as jewellery or simply held in the hand they remind us of our relationship with nature and Mother Earth.

It is known that crystals, due to their atomic makeup, hold heat and focus light energy, the often used example is quartz crystals being used in watches to generate an electric charge. Beyond this, it is said that crystals and gemstones have different energies that can be used to enhance your own energetic vibrations. Each gemstone is known for its unique 'energetic' properties.
