Black Obsidian Cone Pendulum

Smooth Crystal Cone Shaped Pendulum on silver coloured chain with beaded end. It has a wonderful shape, wide at the top and tapers nicely to the tip.

Origin:  Mexico

Crystal Details: Obsidian is natural volcanic glass that is produced when magma erupts on to the earth's surface and cools so rapidly against air, water or rocks. It cools quickly and too fast for crystals to form.

Chemical Composition: SiO_{2 – silicon dioxide with impurities.}

Hardness:  On Mohs scale of mineral hardness - grade 5-5.5 (1 being softest, 10 being hardest)

Colour:  Volcanic glass. Black, brown, green, red/black, brown/black, black with rainbow pattern, black/snowflake, blue. The colour of obsidian is determined by the inclusions and impurities that are present.

Historical Uses/Folklore: black obsidian is known as the ‘Wizard stone’. It holds back negativity and will only work with positive intention. The Aztecs polished pieces into scrying mirrors. In the Middles Ages, people shaped obsidian into axes and arrowheads and believed them to be magical and protective, warding off evil spirits and demons.
