Origin:  Indonesia  (Its known locations are only inside volcanoes located in Australia and Mount Papandayan, situated in West Java, Indonesia.)

Crystal Details: Bumble Bee Jasper (or Bumblebee) is actually a combination of volcanic matter, silicon dioxide mineral containing anhydrite, hematite, sulphur, arsenic, etc as well as ash from the volcano. It is also referred to as Fumarolic Jasper, Mustard Jasper or Eclipse stone. Bumblebee "Jasper" is a misnomer, as this material contains no quartz all.

Do take care with this stone if it breaks as it contains small amounts of arsenic and sulphur both of which are toxic. Bumble Bee Jaspers are quite beautiful, but make sure you only use a sealed stone, which all of ours are.

Chemical Composition: CaCO3, Calcium Carbonate with Sulphur

Hardness:  On Mohs scale of mineral hardness - grade 2.5-5 (1 being softest, 10 being hardest)

Colour:  It is characterized by the vivid yellow, orange and black striped markings and bandings with off white to grey undulating patterns.
