Origin:  Australia

Crystal Details: Australian Pink Opal is not a true opal, but an opalized radiolarite that has been permeated with iron solutions to give it the bright pink colouration. It occurs as a horizontally lying seam that changes in thickness and colour variation. 

Chemical Composition: SiO2.nH2O

Hardness:  On Mohs scale of mineral hardness - grade 5.5 - 6 (1 being softest, 10 being hardest)

Colour:  Ranges from a bright baby pink to a pink-white, cream or lavender. Some have attractive swirls and bands with alternating shades of pink and grey.
