Blue Lace Agate is an extraordinary Stone this is becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

A communication crystal encouraging us to speak our truth. A peacemaker, a facilitator of communication. Gentle but powerful, calming, provides balance and emotional stability. Can be a key to unblack areas of stagnancy in the body, especially those connected to the way that we communicate. Enhances sound healing by focussing sound to the appropriate place and is calming to animals and restless children.

Tip:  Helps to release blockages in throat chakra and therefore clearing the way for self-expression. Is said to aid healers by increasing and keeping their energy flowing. Recharge in the light of the waxing moon.

Historical Uses/Folklore: It is believed these stones were originally used as amulets of healing, and this tradition continued on through Ancient Greek and Egyptian civilizations. Represents Mercury, the Roman god of communication. Blue Lace Agates are spiritually connected since ancient times to the Nerthus, the Germanic Earth Goddess of Fertility, and The Sioux Moon Goddess. It is a symbol of motherhood and the Virgin Mary and in Scandinavia, is sacred to the Earth Mother.

Origin of Name: It's said the Greek philosopher Theophrastus gave agate its name because he found the stone in the Achates River of present day Sicily, Italy.

Crystal Details: Blue Lace Agate is a light blue variety Chalcedony.

Chemical Composition:  SiO₂  (Silicon Dioxide) with inclusions          

Hardness:  On Mohs scale of mineral hardness - grade 6 (1 being softest, 10 being hardest)

Colour:  Blue Lace Agate is a predominantly light blue, striped with white, brighter blue and sometimes brown threads of colour, giving the appearance of lace.

Chakra:  Throat (Vishuddha)
